Nine students in the East Meadow School District have been recognized by the New York State School Music Association for their outstanding musical talents and chosen to perform in the All-State Festival at NYSSMA’s annual Winter Conference, to be held Dec. 5-8 in Rochester. Additionally, two students were also named as alternates.
To qualify, students had to receive a score between 98 and 100 on their solo performance, judged by an NYSSMA All-State adjudicator.
From East Meadow High School, Dave Alavanza has been selected to perform in the Symphonic Band on clarinet, Joshua Amy has been selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus on tenor, Daniel Persaud has been selected to perform in the Symphonic Band on trombone, and Ria Savan has been selected to perform in the Treble Chorus on soprano. From W.T. Clarke High School, Lia Addeo has been selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus on alto 1, Kysia Chan has been selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus on soprano 2, Saad Khan has been selected to perform in the Symphonic Band on trumpet, Kaiden Mayers has been selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus on bass 1, and Bayli Pham has been selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus on alto 1.
This year’s alternates are W.T. Clarke High School students Brian Bae (Bb clarinet) and Charlotte Huang (euphonium).
